John Puddifoot brings over 35 years of teaching experience. He is both an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor and RYA Examiner—a rare combination that gives our students an insider’s advantage. Yachtmaster power skills are part of his motorboat instruction specialisation, ensuring every student receives the highest level of training.
Unlike other schools, we prioritise small group instruction, with a maximum 3:1 student-to-instructor ratio. In many cases, courses run with just two students. This allows for more hands-on training, greater individual attention, and a stronger foundation in real-world boating skills.
State-of-the-Art Training on Lady Emma
Our training takes place aboard Lady Emma, a Nelson 34 motorboat, fully refitted between 2020 and 2022. This twin-screw, semi-displacement vessel is known for its exceptional sea-keeping abilities. It features wide side decks and advanced Raymarine electronics, making it the ideal training platform for aspiring captains specialising in yachtmaster power techniques.
