Bespoke Training – Boat handling, confidence and ability

The central pillar of enjoyable motor cruising is being able to handle your boat in all conditions. Once this skill is mastered you relax and become confident in your ability which ensures that your family guests and friends will all enjoy the onboard experience!

How will this specialist training run: I will discuss your requirements prior to the training and agree a personalised bespoke training programme. We only take a maximum of two students on these additional training days thus ensuring maximum hands-on experience.

Capital will provide you with a specialist day of boat-handling and close quarters manoeuvring operating from our base at Lymington Yacht Haven. We will consider the basics and advance to more challenging exercises. Included in the days training will be the following:

mooring to a tidal berth
ferry gliding
wind off and wind on berthing, looking at the differences and what works best
the use of forward springs and back springs, when to use them
anchoring
manoeuvring in a restricted area
making the boat stand still in differing conditions

What’s included: Capital will provide you with 1 day of instruction,all running costs including fuel, a light snack lunch and on-board refreshments are included in the course fee.

All courses will be run using our training boat Lady Emma, a Nelson 34. This semi-displacement cruiser is renowned for its superlative sea keeping abilities, the wide side decks ensure safe use and its modern up to date electronic navigation aids provide the user with a 21^st century experience.

Location: All our training courses will operate from Lymington Yacht Haven; this location is ideal as we use the protected waters of the Solent. Secure parking is available on site for the duration of your course and local accommodation can be found close by.

Duration: 1 Day with a maximum of 2 students on board.
